Ministers in the Red and White Cabinet convened at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to tackle the issue of PT Sritex employees who have been laid off. The key focus of the meeting was Prabowo’s directive for ministers to find solutions for the affected workers. Present at the meeting were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.
During the meeting, Prasetyo underscored the president’s worry for the workers and stressed the urgency of resolving the challenges that have arisen since PT Sritex declared bankruptcy in October 2024. The objective is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees with a revised work scheme in the textile sector. Minister Yassierli praised the efforts of the curator in ensuring that former Sritex employees may potentially be reemployed within the next two weeks.
Furthermore, Prabowo’s dedication to providing support and guidance is anticipated to bring relief to PT Sritex employees impacted by the job cuts. The Ministry of Manpower is proactively safeguarding the rights of PT Sritex Group workers by guaranteeing they receive layoff compensation and other entitlements. The PT Sritex Curator Team is in the process of selecting investors to oversee Sritex’s assets under a new scheme, ultimately leading to the rehiring of the laid-off workers. This initiative aims to bring stability to the affected employees and offer a resolution to their current predicament.
