French President Emmanuel Macron recently visited Indonesia to strengthen the partnership between the two countries. During his visit, Macron met with President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, where he emphasized the significance of the friendship between Indonesia and France. The diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France have been maintained for 75 years, with notable progress in the past decade. Macron acknowledged Indonesia’s role in promoting regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region and commended the advancements in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and energy transition agenda.
Cultural collaboration was also a focal point during Macron’s visit, leading to the signing of a cultural agreement at the Borobudur Temple complex as a symbol of the growing friendship between the two nations. Macron expressed gratitude to President Prabowo for the warm reception and expressed optimism for further joint efforts. His two-day official visit to Indonesia served to strengthen the bond between the two countries and enhance cooperation for mutual benefit.
