President Prabowo Subianto recently visited Saudi Arabia on July 2–3, 2025, to enhance cooperation in providing better services for Indonesian pilgrims during their Hajj and Umrah journeys. During his visit, President Prabowo met with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah. Their meeting focused on expressing gratitude for the Saudi government’s commitment to serving pilgrims from around the world, including those from Indonesia.

The discussions highlighted the close collaboration between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia in ensuring the safety and comfort of Indonesian pilgrims during their religious activities. Both parties agreed to strengthen and enhance the quality of services for Indonesian pilgrims in future Hajj seasons, emphasizing their commitment to facilitating a smooth pilgrimage experience.

In addition to talks related to Hajj matters, strategic agreements were made to deepen bilateral relations. The Saudi–Indonesia Supreme Coordination Council, jointly chaired by the Crown Prince and President Prabowo, concentrated on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and technology. The bilateral trade between the two countries has been significant, totaling approximately USD 31.5 billion over the past five years.

Furthermore, agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed to promote private sector investment, amounting to around USD 27 billion. These investments are anticipated to generate job opportunities in Indonesia, particularly in areas such as energy, industrial development, and environmentally sustainable technology.

Both leaders also underscored the importance of cooperation in the health sector, particularly in meeting the medical needs of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. They also discussed the development of the pharmaceutical and vaccine industries as well as the enhancement of health workforce capacity.

On the international front, President Prabowo and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reaffirmed their commitment to supporting peaceful conflict resolutions in the region. They reiterated their support for a two-state solution for Palestine and highlighted the role of international humanitarian organizations in promoting peace and stability.

This visit emphasized the strong partnership between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia across various sectors, showcasing their mutual efforts to enhance services for Indonesian pilgrims and deepen cooperation for the benefit of both nations.
