Presiden Prabowo Subianto’s diplomatic efforts have led to positive outcomes, according to the Presidential Communication Office (PCO). These include the signing of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and substantial investment commitments from several partner nations. Senior Expert at the PCO, Philips J. Vermonte, reported that since President Prabowo took office, 71 MoUs with 13 countries have been secured, along with investment commitments reaching nearly IDR 800 trillion from four countries. This demonstrates Indonesia’s efforts to access new markets through economic diplomacy initiatives. Vermonte highlighted Indonesia’s entry into the BRICS international organization as part of its market expansion strategy, emphasizing that joining BRICS is not an anti-Western or anti-American stance. The move aims to strengthen relations with major global powers and enhance Indonesia’s position in the current geopolitical landscape. Additionally, Deputy Foreign Minister Arif Havas Oegroseno revealed that Indonesia continues to negotiate for further reductions in import tariffs, emphasizing that trade diplomacy decisions are driven by national interests rather than emotion. It is important not to overreact or make assumptions without considering the data in international relations.
