National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is actively working to support local employment by hiring workers for the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) from individuals living in extreme poverty or general poverty. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to BGN, mentioned that a minimum of 30% of the staff in each SPPG will be chosen from disadvantaged backgrounds. This decision aligns with the President’s directive to ensure that the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program not only addresses hunger but also contributes to job creation. Currently, there are 2,378 SPPG units in collaboration with 6,076 local economic institutions, with 93,572 community members actively participating in the program. The MBG Program has had a positive impact on over 7.4 million individuals nationwide, including students from various educational levels, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers. In an effort to expand the reach of the program, BGN plans to establish an additional 2,401 SPPG units within the next 10 days, targeting about 15 million beneficiaries. This move demonstrates a strong commitment to promoting employment opportunities and addressing nutritional needs in marginalized communities.
