Deputy Minister for Population and Family Development, Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka, emphasized the importance of parents staying updated on their children’s interests and promoting physical activities to prevent them from getting addicted to games and gadgets. Speaking at a discussion organized by the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), Isyana highlighted the need for parents to keep learning and familiarize themselves with online applications as children tend to learn quickly in today’s digital age. She pointed out that children often seek instant gratification, or “cheap dopamine,” through social media and online games, leading to potential addiction issues. Isyana suggested that sports and outdoor activities can also provide a healthy dose of dopamine, emphasizing the importance of physical movement for overall well-being.
Furthermore, Deputy Minister Veronica Tan discussed the Ruang Bersama Indonesia (RBI) program, aimed at creating safe and inclusive spaces for women, children, and communities to empower, learn, play, and foster creativity. Through RBI, Tan hopes to provide children with access to engaging traditional games, creative activities, and sports while keeping them away from excessive gadget use. By encouraging parents to stay involved in their children’s activities and promoting physical exercise, the government aims to address the growing concern of game and gadget addiction among the youth population.
